Shocking ROI for short term goverment site

Monday, July 21st, 2008

Here’s a great example of a how not to go about creating a successful short term micro site.
The department for Children, Schools and families developed an interactive website aimed at encouraging children and “young people” to feedback their ideas and requirements for play spaces. The resulting website can be found at http://www.dcsf.gov.uk/playspace/

GX Networks (ex PIPEX) aren’t managing their domain very well

Thursday, July 10th, 2008

Maybe I’m being picky but I would expect a pretty major web company like GX Networks that owns a domain registration brand like 123-Reg and a webhosting outfit like webfusion to get their own domain management in order. If you look at the non www version of their domain (at the time of writing of [...]

The list of speakers looks good. Mark Kuhilow from RO Eye is speaking and he certainly knows his business and Latitude are [...]

Friday, July 4th, 2008

We’ve just been over to see Aidan O’Rourke at Urbis today.  He’s exhibiting the Manchester Mega-Photo, which is a massive photo collage of Manchester town centre.
I was surprised by the details.  It’s made up of around 300 images, and each small fragment of the overall collage is at 10 megabytes (cropped from an original 12 [...]

Tonight I’ll be delivering a presentation and workshop to a number of microbusiness/sme/startups in Manchester. It’s on behalf of Blue Orchid. If anyone is interested, you can find the seo presentation online here.
